History of Moray Seafoods

Today Moray Seafoods is still a leading seafood exporter specialising in Langoustines, Scampi and Crab. Moray Seafoods no longer owns its own fleet of fishing vessels and has concentrated on shellfish processing and a continuing program of factory capital investment. This takes advantage of the local seafood raw material and allows Moray Seafoods to focus on adding value, be it by grading , cooking or coating.

Moray Seafoods' established in the 1950's by the late Charles Eckersley OBE, is located in Buckie, North East Scotland. This is next to Scotland's largest fishing ports, putting substantial fresh seafood landings in easy reach.

Moray Seafoods pioneered the processing of Scampi for the UK market, and was an early exporter of Shellfish in the 1960s & 70s to North America and Europe. In Spain this legacy can be seen in the name of Morayfish SA, Barcelona who took the name from the Scottish company, and remains one of Moray Seafoods' key Spanish customers.
